Partner
Gerald J. Williams concentrates on toxic tort and complex personal
injury cases in addition to handling consumer protection, civil
rights, employment law, police litigation and class actions.
Born in Chadds Ford, PA and raised in Wilmington, DE, he inherited
an affinity for underdogs from his father, a tradesman who fought
to protect the rights of his fellow workers.
Williams received his law degree in 1982 from Temple University
School of Law Evening Divsion. Before that, armed with a bachelor's
degree in sociology from St. Joseph's College, and a Masters in
sociology from the University of Pittsburgh, he held positions in
the fields of mental health and social work, serving as director
of research and evaluation at the Benjamin Rush Center in Philadelphia,
and as an evaluation analyst at St. Luke's Medical Center. He was
an associate at the law firm of Wapner, Newman & Associates
before starting his own firm in 1984. A year later, he and Mark
Cuker became partners.
Williams is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey,
as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Middle and Eastern Districts
of Pennsylvania, the District of New Jersey, the United States Third
Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court. Both
he and his firm have received an "AV" rating - the highest
given - from legal publisher Martindale Hubbell.
Williams is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia
Trial Lawyers Associations, a supporting fellow of the Roscoe Pound
Institute, a member of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, and the
American Constitution Society for Law and Policy.
He also is on the Board of Directors of Citizens for Consumer Justice
and currently the Chairman of the Citizens for Consumer Justice
Political Action Committee (CCJPAC) as well as a former member of
the board of Cornerstone Savings & Loan Association.
He has successfully tried several significant cases, and writes
and lectures frequently on legal topics.
