WCB to take prominent role in DePuy hip replacement litigation in MDL

On January 26, 2011, partner Esther Berezofsky was appointed by U.S. District Court Judge David A. Katz,to the Plaintiffs' Steering Committee (PSC) in the DePuy hip replacement litigation. The multidistrict (MDL) litigation, which is pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, involves defective ASR hip implant products manufactured by DePuy Orthopaedics, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. The implants were subject to a voluntary recall and patients are facing revision surgery to replace hip joints previously implanted.
